400 Megapixel Photos with Fujifilm GFX100
The Fujifilm GFX100 gained Pixel Shift via a firmware update, which means you can combine multiple frames into a single 400 megapixel file. It’s a very specific tool, but when it suits the subject it’s properly impressive: huge detail, cleaner colour, and a file that holds up for big prints or demanding commercial use.
In this video I walk through the full process from start to finish. I cover the practical bits like file sizes, where to download the firmware, and how to install and use the Fujifilm Pixel Shift Combiner software to merge the captures. After that, I take the combined file into Lightroom, show you how I approach the edit, and then run through exporting high-resolution TIFFs.
This isn’t the sort of thing you’d use for everyday photography. It’s best for static subjects and controlled shooting. But for architecture, landscapes, fine art, and any scenario where maximum detail and accuracy matter, it’s a brilliant option to have in your back pocket.
