Honest Portraits, Beautifully Made

Natural, thoughtful portraits for actors, professionals and individuals who want photographs with character.

Some people need a clean, simple headshot. Others want something with a little more story.

Most want both. This page is here to help you find the right route.

For actors, performers and agency submissions. Calm, honest headshots that look like you on a very good day, not a filtered version of you.

    Portrait Photography

For people who want something a little more personal, a little more considered, and perhaps less easily categorised than a standard headshot.

My approach

I’m not especially interested in stiff poses, fake smiles or glossy over-editing. What I want is a photograph that feels like you, just at your most settled, confident and well seen.

Sessions are relaxed. The people I photograph are not models and do not necessarily love being in front of a camera. That’s completely normal. My job is to keep things calm, guide you clearly, and make sure the end result feels professional without feeling forced.

Some clients want a clean, straightforward headshot. Others want a portrait with a bit more shape, mood and personality. In most cases, the sweet spot sits somewhere in the middle.

Actor & Spotlight Headshots

If you’re applying for Spotlight, updating agency shots, or simply replacing headshots that no longer look like you, this is the route I’d suggest.

These sessions are straightforward and calm. No awkward “act natural” nonsense. No heavy filtering. No dramatic retouching that leaves you looking unlike yourself when you walk into the room. The aim is a set of images that feel current, recognisable and genuinely useful.

We’ll make the clean, clear headshots you need, and if it suits, we can also create a few frames with a little more character and shape.

Useful for your website, socials, or anywhere you want a bit more personality without losing the essentials.

Business Headshots & Personal Branding

Not every professional portrait needs to look like it was made in a hurry against a white wall.

Some clients need a clean headshot for LinkedIn, a company profile or a speaking bio.

Others need a broader set of images for websites, press, social media, or their wider personal brand. That might include something simple and formal, but it can also include portraits with a bit more atmosphere, confidence and identity.

If you want photographs that feel polished without feeling generic, this is the page to visit next.

Portrait Photography with Character

Some shoots do not fit neatly into the usual boxes, and that’s fine.

Sometimes the brief is not really “I need a headshot”. It’s more that you want a set of portraits that feel considered, flattering and a little more personal. Perhaps for a project, perhaps for yourself, perhaps because you’re marking a moment in life and want something better than a rushed phone snap and a vague promise to sort it later.

This is where portrait photography comes in. Still simple. Still relaxed. Still rooted in good light and honest expression. Just with a little more room for atmosphere, styling and personality.

What to expect

  • A relaxed session

You do not need to know what to do in front of the camera before you arrive. I’ll guide you through it. Gently, clearly, without turning the whole thing into a performance.

  • Natural editing

I retouch lightly and tastefully. Temporary distractions can go. You still need to look like yourself.

  • A useful set of images

The aim is not just one nice photograph. It’s a set of images you can actually use, whether that’s for casting, work, your website, social media or something a bit more personal.

Location

I work from my studio in Malmesbury and photograph clients from across Wiltshire and further afield. It’s a relaxed, straightforward setup with enough flexibility to create anything from a simple, clean headshot to a more atmospheric portrait.

If you’re coming from Bath, Bristol, Gloucestershire or surrounding areas, you’ll find Malmesbury easy enough to get to.

And if you’re not sure which sort of session you need, just ask.

Kind Words

  • "Kevin made the whole process incredibly relaxed. I’m not someone who enjoys being photographed, but he managed to bring out expressions that actually feel like me. The final images look fantastic and have already gone straight onto my Spotlight profile."

    — Daniel, Actor

  • "I needed new headshots for casting submissions and Kevin completely understood the brief. The shoot was efficient, relaxed and really well guided. Having both colour and monochrome versions of the images was a brilliant bonus."

    — Amelia, Performer

  • "This was easily the best headshot session I’ve had. Kevin’s studio setup is excellent and he gives just enough direction to help you find the right look without it feeling forced. The images have a really natural, film-like feel."

    — Lucas, Stage & Screen Actor

Questions I’m often asked

  • Not at all. Most people don’t. I’ll guide you throughout so nothing feels awkward or over-rehearsed.

  • Keep it simple and choose clothes that feel like you, but one step smarter than everyday. Solid colours usually work better than large logos or very busy patterns.

  • Yes, but lightly and with a filmic look. I’ll tidy temporary blemishes and distractions, not change your face into somebody else’s.

  • Yes, and that’s often the best approach. We can make the clean, straightforward images you know you need, then spend a little time on portraits with more character.

  • Yes. If that is your main reason for booking, I’d send you to the dedicated actor page as it explains that side of things in more detail.

  • Absolutely. Some sessions are very simple and clean. Others expand into personal branding and editorial-style portraits.
