My Favourite Fujifilm Black & White Settings & Recipes
In this video I share my favourite Fujifilm black and white settings and recipes - the ones I actually go back to, rather than the ones that look clever on a settings chart.
I walk through four recipes in particular: Newspaper, 50s Noir, Imai, and HP4. Each one has its own feel, and I talk about what it’s good for, what sort of light it suits, and the kind of subjects where it really starts to sing. Some are a bit punchier, some are softer, some lean more “gritty”, but they’re all designed to be usable, not gimmicky.
I also show you how I set them up in-camera so they’re quick to access when you’re out shooting, and I run through how I use Fujifilm X-Raw Studio to preview, compare, and refine the look using the camera’s own processing. It’s a great way to experiment without destroying your original files, and it helps you build confidence in what you’re seeing on the back of the camera.
If you shoot Fujifilm and you like working in monochrome, this should give you a few solid starting points you can actually use.
