Fujifilm GFX100RF Review – 102MP In Your Pocket?! 🔥

Fujifilm has finally done the thing people have been whispering about for ages: taken their 102MP medium format sensor and dropped it into a compact, fixed-lens body. The GFX100RF is essentially Fujifilm aiming medium format quality at photographers who want a travel-friendly camera with a simpler, one-lens approach.

A bit “rangefinder-ish” in feel, premium in build, and clearly positioned as something you buy because you love the idea of it as much as you love the files.

In this video I share my first impressions after spending time with the GFX100RF, including test images and what it’s like to actually use. We look at image quality, dynamic range, autofocus behaviour, and how the files hold up once you get them into Lightroom. I also talk through the less glamorous stuff that matters in the real world: high ISO handling, low-light practicality, and battery life.

And then there are the elephants in the room. Fujifilm has made some very deliberate choices here: no IBIS, and an f/4 fixed lens (35mm f/4, which works out at roughly a 28mm full-frame equivalent field of view). That combination will be absolutely fine for some people, and a deal-breaker for others. I try to be straight about who this camera makes sense for, and who might be better off saving their money.

If you’re curious about the GFX system, considering a high-resolution travel camera, or you just want to see what 102MP medium format looks like in a more compact package, this should give you a solid feel for it.
