The Story of my "Custom" Fuji X-Pro1 & Why It Matters in 2024

This video is about my “custom” Fujifilm X-Pro1 - how it ended up the way it is, why I’ve held onto it, and why I think it still matters in 2024. It’s partly a camera chat, but it’s also about something a bit less measurable: the way certain cameras pull you into shooting for the right reasons.

I take you through what’s been customised and what that changes in day-to-day use, then I zoom out a bit and ask the obvious question: is an X-Pro1 still a viable option now? Not as a collector’s piece, but as a camera you could genuinely take out and use for personal work, street photography, even bits of professional work if you know its limitations.

We talk about what the X-Pro1 still does beautifully, where it shows its age, and why the whole “old camera” conversation is usually less about specs and more about how you like to work. If you’ve been tempted to pick one up, dust one off, or you’re just curious why photographers keep going back to the early Fujifilm bodies, this should give you a clear, honest view.
