Fujifilm Firmware Finder: Latest Updates For X & GFX Cameras And Lenses

Fujifilm Firmware Finder

If you shoot Fujifilm, you already know they are pretty good at long-term support. Bodies and lenses get new autofocus tweaks, bug fixes, compatibility with new lenses and sometimes completely new features, all delivered quietly via firmware.

The problem is that the official firmware pages are not obvious to find, and it is easy to lose track of which version your X-T5, X100VI or GFX body is actually on. So I thought I would keep a running, human-curated page that pulls the essentials into one place, with direct links back to Fujifilm’s own download pages.

I will keep this updated as Fujifilm releases new firmware. You should still always click through to the official page before updating, because that is the final word, but this should save you a lot of hunting around.

At a glance

  • This page lists current firmware versions for popular Fujifilm X and GFX cameras, with links straight to Fujifilm’s download pages.

  • There is a second table with recent and commonly used XF and GF lens firmware versions, again with links to the official pages.

  • At the bottom you will find links to the main Fujifilm firmware hubs, so you can look up any camera or lens that is not listed here.

This article is part of my Fujifilm Learning Hub.

A growing collection of real-world guides, camera setup tips, lens suggestions by use-case, practical assignments, and buying advice with examples.

Why firmware updates matter

Firmware is just software. It is the code that tells your camera or lens how to behave. When Fujifilm ships an update, it usually falls into one of a few buckets:

  • Bug fixes: things like random freezes, exposure glitches or connection problems with the Fujifilm apps.

  • Performance tweaks: better autofocus tracking, cleaner communication with new lenses, more stable image stabilisation.

  • New features or compatibility: support for brand-new lenses, accessories or apps such as the Fujifilm XApp.

You do not have to update every time Fujifilm posts a new file, but staying reasonably current is a good idea, especially if you use newer lenses or rely on the apps for remote control and transfer.

How to check your current Fujifilm firmware version

You can always confirm your firmware version in-camera before you update. The process is basically the same across X and GFX bodies:

  1. Turn the camera off and make sure a memory card is inserted.

  2. Hold down the DISP/BACK button.

  3. While holding the button, turn the camera on.

  4. The current firmware versions for the body and any attached lens will be shown on screen.

  5. Turn the camera off again to exit the version screen.

I always do this before downloading anything, just to make sure I am not updating for the sake of it.

Fujifilm camera firmware: X & GFX bodies

Here is a snapshot of current firmware versions for some of the more commonly used X and GFX cameras, along with direct links to the official Fujifilm firmware pages. The version numbers and dates are taken from Fujifilm’s own global and support sites.

I will keep this table updated as new firmware drops.

Fujifilm lens firmware: XF, XC and GF

Lens firmware tends to change less often than body firmware, but in the last couple of years we have seen a steady run of updates, especially for zooms that benefit from better exposure tracking or quieter AF during video.

The table below pulls together recent updates for some widely used XF zooms and a few key GF lenses.

If you shoot something else, do not worry: in the next section you will find links to Fujifilm’s full lens firmware index.

Again, always double-check the official page before you update.

Official Fujifilm firmware hubs

If your camera or lens is not listed in the tables, or you just want to double-check, these are the main official entry points:

  • Fujifilm digital camera firmware (X and GFX bodies)

  • Fujifilm lens firmware (XF, XC and GF lenses)

    • From the same page, choose Lenses, then find your lens by name.

Both sections also link to manuals and update instructions if you need the step-by-step.

How I handle firmware in real life

A quick word on how I use this in my own workflow. I am not someone who updates firmware the night before a big job. If I am shooting a wedding on Saturday, I will not be flashing both X-T5 bodies to a brand new version on Friday afternoon.

What I tend to do is:

  • Read the release notes and decide whether the change is relevant for me.

  • Update one body first (for example, my “B” X-T5 or a spare X100-series) and use it on something low risk.

  • Once I am happy it is stable, I bring the rest of the kit up to the same version so everything behaves consistently.

The same goes for lenses. If there is a fix for exposure behaviour, AF noise or stabilisation and it is a lens I use a lot, I will do it. If it is something obscure that I am never going to notice, I might leave it until the next round.

Final thoughts

Hopefully this page saves you a bit of time next time Fujifilm announces a big firmware dump. Bookmark it, and whenever you hear the word “update”, you can jump back here, check your version and click straight through to the official download.

If you spot anything that looks out of date, or you notice a new firmware before I have added it, feel free to drop me a note and I will update the tables.
