Mastering Wedding Photography: Tips & Techniques

This video is an overview of a wedding I photographed in the autumn, with a proper image breakdown of how I approached the day and why I made the photographs I did. It’s not a “here are the highlights” slideshow. It’s more of a behind-the-scenes explanation of decisions: what I was watching for, where I positioned myself, how I reacted to changes in light, and how I kept things documentary without interrupting what was happening.

All of the photographs in this video were taken with the Fujifilm X-T4, using the XF18mm f/1.4 and the XF56mm f/1.2 lenses. That combination gives me a wide, immersive view for getting close and filling the frame, and a tighter, more intimate perspective when I want to isolate moments and expressions without stepping on them.

I talk through the images as a sequence, because wedding photography is really about story. It’s the small connecting moments as much as the obvious ones, and it’s the relationship between frames that gives the day its shape.

If you’re a wedding photographer trying to build a more confident documentary approach, or you’re curious how a simple two-lens setup can cover an entire wedding day, this one should be useful.
