— An online course by Kevin MullinsThe Art of Documentary
Wedding Photography
Seven hours of practical teaching drawn from 800+ weddings covering light, observation, human behaviour, and the art of telling honest stories without directing a thing.
— WELCOMEI'm Kevin Mullins, and over the past 18+ years, I've photographed close to 800 weddings in a candid, documentary style, one focused on authentic storytelling rather than staged perfection.
I started this journey in 2007, leaving a career in IT to pursue wedding photography with no formal training, no financial safety net, and no guarantees.
Just a passion for capturing real, unscripted moments and the willingness to make every mistake along the way.
This course is everything I've learned. Not a theory of photography, but a working photographer's rule book built from the real successes, some failures, and the slow refinement of a way of seeing.
What you'll learn
- Observation and anticipation. How to read a room, predict the moment before it happens, and capture it without ever interrupting the flow.
- Light, composition, and moment. The three pillars that turn ordinary frames into meaningful images.
- Storytelling structure. Building a wedding narrative with a start, middle, and end that holds together as a body of work.
- Handling the practical realities. Group shots, awkward moments, difficult light, and the quiet pressure of an entire day on your shoulders.
- Developing your own voice. How to refine a style that reflects who you are as a photographer, without chasing trends or imitating others.
- The honest business side. Pricing, time management, sustainability, and the lessons learned from getting most of it wrong before getting any of it right.
Your course is transformative for my mindset going into weddings - as much as the vital experience you've shared.

Your tutor Kevin Mullins
— Your instructorKevin Mullins, documentary wedding photographer.
Kevin has photographed over 800 weddings in a documentary style since 2008.
From intimate home ceremonies to multi-day celebrations. In 2013 he became the first wedding photographer ever appointed a Fujifilm X-Photographer ambassador.
His work has been exhibited in Tokyo and Prague, and he has been invited to speak about documentary photography worldwide.
He didn't come from a photography background. He made the move from a career in IT, built the business from nothing without formal training, and learned everything through practice, obsession, and some mistakes.
That journey is what makes his teaching direct and practical rather than theoretical.
This online course is the most comprehensive version of everything he's learned — made available to photographers who can't travel to attend his in-person workshops.
