And so we move onto a rather wet, but still gorgeous Wedding at Wellington Barn.
A week after the glorious spring sunshine we had for Sam and Lorna’s Wedding at The Red Barn, Blindley Heath I headed back to Wiltshire for the Wedding at Wellington Barn of Catherine and Ben.
Well, sadly, the weather gods were not looking down on Wellington Barn that day and we had rain of biblical proportions early on in the day.
Not to worry though, as a documentary wedding photographer it’s my responsibility to roll with everything the day throws at me, including the weather.
I have to say, in the nearly 300 weddings or so that I’ve photographed to date, the rain, whist making many appearances, has never affected the happiness of the bride and groom on the day and I’m delighted that Ben and Catherine just shrugged it off too for their wedding at Wellington Barn.
The ceremony, at St. James’ Church, Cherhill, despite being wet, was extra special as the vicar was one of Catherine’s friends from her school days and it was lovely to see the clear bond that Catherine as the bride, and the vicar had.
Once we’d battled the elements the day continued with the rest of the wedding at Wellington Barn, near Calne.
By now, however, the weather was beginning to settle a little and the guests, friends and families settled down for the wedding breakfast which was, of course, accompanied by speeches composed of lots of laughter, lots of love and lots of tears.
The rain should never spoil a wedding and it didn’t for Ben and Catherine’s wedding at Wellington Barn. Below are a few of my favourite images from their day.
As ever, please feel free to share on social media or comment below.
Kind Words from Ben & Catherine
“Our feet have finally hit the ground after a fantastic backpacking trip to Malawi and Zambia on honeymoon, and now a gruesome stretch of night shifts loom!
Thank you SO much for shooting our wedding. I was sorry not to get the chance to chat more. We couldn’t believe how amazingly you blended in with all the guests. It was a shame about the rain, but hopefully the day was enjoyed by everyone regardless.” – Catherine
