The keen eyed viewers of this website will realise over the last few months I’ve moved my personal, technical and non wedding type content to a dedicated website call The Owl.
It struck me though, that a lot of what I would like my wedding clients to see is now being left off of this website. So, I’ve decided to do a “Diary of a Wedding Photographer” series. Quite simply, once a month it’s going to be a summary of what I’ve been up to within the business. Some of which may, or may not, but interesting to past and future wedding clients. So…..September 2014 is first:
SWPP Gold Award for Birth Photography
Firstly, I’m very proud that in the August 2014 SWPP Competition I received a Gold award in the Documentary category for this image I took during the birth photography of Maja. The image was taken on my little Fuji X100S and is probably one of the photographs I’m most proud of in my career to date. As you know, my ethos is all about people and emotion and you don’t get much more emotional than the actual first moments of a beautiful babies life:
I also spent five days in Koln, Germany attending and presenting at Photokina 2014. I had been invited by Fujifilm to present two, forty minute sessions on how and why I use their cameras in my professional as a documentary wedding photographer. The sessions went well and along with some great photographers from around the world include Pete Bridgewood, Zack Arias, Gianlucca Colla, Bert Stefani, Ken Kominskey, Eric Bouvet and David Ariob we had a great time on and off the stage.
Here are few collated snaps from the show:

Very proud to have four images displayed in the Professional X-Photographers Gallery

I was also thrilled to see that some of my images and a feature on me has been included in the marketing leaflet for the upcoming Fujifilm X100T. You can see the PDF here .
Additionally, I was really thrilled to see two of my images making it into the X100T promotional video from Fujifilm. That’s my photography of The Millennium Bridge and my daughter showing off the 1/32000 shutter speed
Interviews and Publications
Its been a busy month for me in this department too. Last night, I presented a free webinar on behalf of The Photography Academy . It was an hour long and I talked about my style and how I work and why I shoot the way I do. I’m told there was nearly 400 online attendees so that’s pretty cool in my book!
Tomorrow night I’m doing a live Google+ Hangout, again discussing my style and methodologies. The interview will be available live and also on Youtube shortly after. If you want to log in live, go here:
I’ve been features in the Austrian magazine who have interviewed several photographers for an article on using mirrorless systems professionally:
And as always, I’ve submitted my articles for my monthly column in Professional Photographer Magazine. I’m also busy judging my categories for the PPOTY2014 which will have an awards ceremony on the 6th Novemeber.
What else have I been up to in September?
Along with all that I have:
Spoken at the Zoom Road show for Zenfolio for whom I’m proud to be part of the Pro Team.
I’ve run a Wedding Photojournalism Workshop (more dates coming soon), I’ve run a Street Photography Workshop, I’ve run a Branding & Business Workshop, I’ve run an SEO for Photographers Workshop and in amongst all that I’ve shot weddings at St. Ermin’s Hotel, London, The Vineyard, Newbury, Shipton Moyne and Gate Street Barn.
