The Outdoor Wedding Photography of Laurie & Richard

When Richard and Laurie commissioned me for their Outdoor Wedding I was thrilled, of course.  Somewhat concerned, however, as the wedding was to be in November and we all know what the weather was like here in the UK last year.

As it happens, though it was a crisp day, it was a beautiful day and in fact I don’t think they could have asked for anything more autumnal. The leaves were a gorgeous orange, there was the smell of burning fires in the air and all the guests at their intimate wedding were in fine form.

When I met Richard before the wedding he explained that he was a documentary film maker so we both have like minded views on films and photography for that matter.

Richard and Laurie wanted a sympathetic story of their wedding produced through the medium of photography.

Even though it was an outdoor wedding, in November, in England – there was no shortage of warmth and emotion and I just know Laurie and Richard will have very happy life together as man and wife.

They were completely gracious on the day, a wonderful set of clients and friends and family too.  I was made very welcome and I was delighted when Richard and Laurie sent me this message after seeing their wedding photographs:

Dear Kevin,

What perfect timing for the delivery of the photographs. The Christmas tree was just up, the mulled wine was in the glass…and then we got to experience our special day all over again through your wonderful photographs. There was much laughter, and a few tears, as we worked our way through the emotional journey.

It’s a huge tribute to your talents, that you are able to evoke such powerful emotions ……you took us both straight back to the day, so vividly and emotionally. The day goes so quickly and it’s magical to be able to re-live it so movingly through your poignant and sensitive images. They will be viewed time and time again with huge pleasure. The photographs at the ceremony were so sensitively portrayed, full of emotion… and the happiness of our guests, and the fun and laughter of the day, has been captured just perfectly. The images of Laurie’s Dad will be cherished dearly.

We hardly noticed you there on the day, yet clearly you were all around, fantastically portrayed by your great reportage style photographs. Your use of shallow depth of field is superb and capturing peoples expression, emotions, anxiety, happiness, relief, joy, love, what ever it was, is truly a testament to your talent as a Reportage photographer.

Thank you Kevin for your professionalism, intuitive approach, sheer hard work and for capturing our special day.
Laurie and Richard.
