Katy and Ben were married at Orchardleigh House estate at the end of last year. The ceremony of their Orchardleigh House Wedding took place in the wonderful St. Mary’s Church which is in the grounds of Orchardleigh house but has no electricity and is lit only by candles (for the photographers out there, you can imagine what this is like at 3pm on a December afternoon).
Bridal prep photography commenced earlier in the day and I had a great time with Katy and her bridesmaids who were all having a great time, swilling the bubbly and generally getting very excited about the wedding and the day ahead.
The ceremony itself was wonderful of course. The guests ferried from Orchardleigh house by bus (which, in typical countryside fashion got stuck and had to be rescued by a passing tractor) to St. Mary’s. A roaring log fire in the church kept the guests warm while they waited for Katy who looked absolutely gorgeous as she entered the church.
Back at Orchardleigh House, the festivities began in earnest and everyone started to let their hair down and enjoy the rest of the wedding day. Despite the cold and rainy weather, many of the guests ventured out into the beautiful gardens that surround Orchardleigh House and enjoyed the views of the magnificent house and the Somerset countryside.
After a wonderful wedding breakfast, it was time for the traditional wedding speeches. As is often the case during this part of the day I had some difficulties in concentrating at times due to laughing and it was great to see everyone listening avidly and laughing at the wise cracks too.
After the first dance I disapeared in the winter evening knowing full well that everyone was having a great time and “making some shapes” on the dance floor.
Below are a small selection of my favourites from the wedding. If you were a guest at the wedding you can see the whole selection here.
