What do you get when you put together two people, very much in love, their gorgeous little boy, lot’s of friends, some wine, two boats and a lot of famous London sites? Pretty much the perfect London Riverboat wedding, that’s what.
Julia and Chris contacted me a long time ago with a view of documenting their amazing day which started with some bridal prep photographs at the family home. Thereafter we moved on to the Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham for the ceremony. Although a relatively short part of the day, the wedding at Orleans House Gallery was of course special. Luckily the weather held off as the gusts spilled out to congratulate Chris and Julia.
Phase two of the wedding was to be conducted by bus as we travelled together to Putney to join up with the riverboat that was to be our setting for the rest of the afternoon. Many of the guests were from Texas and as such had never seen a lot of the famous London landmarks. It was lovely to observer them as they glimpsed Tower Bridge, Big Ben and the London Eye for the first time.
The boat dropped us off, at HMS President where this pretty amazing London riverboat wedding continued long into the night.
A fun day, a lovely day and a wonderful couple in Julia and Chris.
As an observational photographer it’s a huge pleasure to be able to mingle and shoot candidly throughout the day as I do at every wedding. It’s my job to record the emotions, the humour, the tension, the tears and the laughter. I do this in a completely candid manor without the need to stage, direct, prompt or control the wedding day in any way what so ever. This London Riverboat Wedding was a perfect wedding to shoot. Lot of people, having so much fun, across most of London. What more could a wedding photojournalist want ?
Such an amazing set, a lot of people will be very moved with some of the images you have captured, they really mean a lot. – Julia & Chris
