It was early September when I shot the Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa Wedding of Katie and Charco.
For those that don’t know, Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa is a lovely, almost remote, hotel complex near Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland.
The day before the wedding, I boarded an Air Stobbart flight.
Yup. Air. Stobbart. I thought Stobbart people drove trucks, but, no, it seems they hurtle people across the skies at 280 miles per hour too.
Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa Wedding – The Photo Film
As usual, you can see Katie and Charco’s wedding photo film below.
For the best experience with these photo films, it’s best to watch them on a tablet or computer. Turn the sound up and go full screen.
I started my day, as I often do, with bridal prep – this time at Katie’s parents lovely home in the town of Clonakilty.
It just so happens, even though I’m first-generation, Welsh, my family heritage is from this area of County Cork.
I spoke to many people at the wedding about other “Mullins’s” that they knew.
Once the bridal prep was complete, I headed into the centre of town and the absolutely amazing Church of the Immaculate Conception.
As is often the case when I have my Documentary Wedding Photographer Ireland hat on, the church was an absolute pleasure to see – and the ceremony a privilege to witness.
It was a traditional Catholic ceremony, and once the service was complete, Katie and Charco, and their guests spilt out under the brooding skies to greet each other.
Thereafter, the wedding party took the short drive to Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa where the rest of the day would unfold.
What is Documentary Wedding Photography?
Well, as I mention on my Documentary Wedding Photographer style page it’s simply about the clients having the best day of their lives.
Without the interference or bother of the photographer (me!).
When I shoot weddings, I absolutely let the day unfold totally naturally.
Which allows the clients to simply spend their entire day with the people that count – friends and family.
Well, that’s simple too – I tell the story, through a series of candid pictures that reveal the true spirit and emotion of the wedding day.
Once at the Inchydoney Island Lodge, the bridal party took an impromptu walk before the weather changed.
It’s a really beautiful part of the Co. Cork coastline.
Katie, Charco and their bridesmaids and groomsmen had a few quiet toasts before heading back into the waiting guests.
After a short drinks reception, it was time for the grand entrance and speeches.
After shooting nearly 500 weddings, I’m amazed at how unique every speech is and these were no different.
A lot of humour, love and a lot of laughter, the speeches led us into dinner and dancing.
HOW DID I DO AT KATIE & CHARCO’S Co. Cork Wedding?
It was so lovely to be a part of this Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa Wedding.
As I made the long drive back to Dublin for my early morning flight, I knew there was a lot of partying ahead.
I hope you like the images as much as I do.
