I Wonder… – Why I love this picture

I wonder ...

... just what the story is.

Being a documentary wedding photographer means I am inquisitive at a wedding.

Without intruding, I like to peak into the little micro-worlds of conversations, jokes being told, memories of times gone by….that sort of thing.

Of course, I rarely, if ever know exactly what is being communicated but I can usually tell when a moment is worth capturing with the camera.

I often look at images, like this one, when editing and perhaps later and wonder…..What were they talking about?

Perhaps they were regaling a story of when the bride (Nargiz) was young, or maybe Nargiz is telling them about her boss at work, or maybe there is a subtle joke being told.

Who knows?  What matters is that this picture makes me think a bit.  It makes me want to read the ladies faces and I find myself wondering a lot more about their lives and their relationships with James (the groom) and Nargiz.

I could look at pictures like this all day.  I find it engaging and I’m really drawn to the characters in the scene.

Of course, its not a traditional wedding photograph.  I don’t think much of my work can be considered traditional in that sense, but hope that in years to come, Nargiz and the two ladies in the image can look at this picture and be reminded, instantly, of the very moment when this lovely scene unfolded at Skinners Hall, London.

I love this picture, and I hope you do too.
