The Great Barn, Higher Ashton, Devon was the venue for the first of my July weddings this year. Kate and Peter had commissioned me to document their wedding some time ago but it was to be another new venue for me.
The Great Barn Devon is a fairly new wedding venue – and what a cracker it is too. Absolutely stunning low-light barn, gorgeous surrounding gardens and very thoughtfully designed interiors and lighting throughout.
The day commenced with some bridal preparation photography of Kate and her bride’s maid at the luxurious Abode Hotel on Cathedral Yard in Exeter. A shortish dash across the lovely Devon countryside to The Great Barn. The weather was incredible, and I don’t think either Peter or Kate could have hoped for anything better. I was pretty stunned as Kate entered the barn from the end of the aisle. The drop lighting from the ceiling just set the scene for the whole wedding and I could tell, whilst watching for the little moments, that Peter and Kate were very much in Love.
Later, after some drinks and canapes in the gardens, Peter, Kate and their guests enjoyed some very funny speeches (I won’t publish the Ziggy Stardust images 🙂 ), with lots of emotion thrown in for good measure. A cracking first dance by the new couple and my coverage was done.
I know Kate and Peter were very happy with their wedding, and their photographs too:
Thank you so much for the photos, they are absolutely fantastic! We had a great time looking through the slide show on Friday and are now looking forward to showing family and friends.
You’ve perfectly captured some great moments of the day, as we were hoping you would. The glorious weather certainly helped to create some really vibrant scenes, but we also particularly like the black and white shots; they’re really stunning. We’re also really pleased with the shots of our first dance, in particular, as we really weren’t sure how these would come out, to be honest!
