Welcome to my January 2016 post in my Diary of a Wedding Photographer series. This is a series of short posts keeping my clients, and myself, up to date with all the activities that go on within my business – and there is more than just Wedding Photography.
Podcasts and Interviews
January saw me complete my series of four Business Podcasts for the Spanish Speaking FDF community. It had taken a couple of months to get all four completed but the feedback has been great and I hope to do more for them in the future.
Training and Workshops
January is usually a quiet month for workshops, but I did have a really lovely one-to-one session booked in Bristol. Charlotte wanted help with her X00T so we spent some time exploring the camera and its capabilities.
You can see the current availability of workshops and photography training on the site.
The annual Societies of Wedding and Portraits Professionals came around again in January and this year I had three workshops to give. The sessions all went well and I was pleased to see that one of my delegates on the West End Street Photography session had one of here images selected for an award at the Photo Training Overseas convention a few weeks later.
I was also really thrilled to win the “Forum General Photograph of the Year” award for this photograph of Maja in her first moments taken from the caesarian birth photography I shot a couple of years back:
Fujifilm X-Pro2 Launch
January was probably most hectic for me around the 15th, and the launch of the Fujifilm X-Pro2.
I’d been involved in testing the camera since October 2015 and I had a strict NDA to conform to.
Needless to say, when the 15th came along, there was a large event in Tokyo, Japan. Sadly, I wasn’t in Japan this time, but many of my images were and I was thrilled to see that my presentations and images were.
Fujifilm COO and President, Shigehiro Nakajim, gave a launch seminar which can be seen in the video below.
My images are shown at 24:12 and at 29:39 a short clip of me shooting a live wedding is shown. I’m extremely proud and grateful to Fujifilm for allowing me to be one of their ambassadors since 2012.
Again, a quiet month for weddings but I did shoot one lovely one at the end of the month up in Huntingdon at Hinchingbroke House. More on that on the blog in due course.
Next Month – February
February is busy, with three weddings and more speaking and workshop engagements.
See you soon.
