Cripps Barn Wedding Photography

Phew – its been a very busy couple of months for me and I’m just getting back into the swing of blogging the last weddings of 2010.

November last year saw me revisit one of my favourite venues, Cripps Barn near Bibury for Emma and Richards wedding.  It was an astonishingly great day weather wise given the time of year.  As with all winter weddings, from a reportage photography point of view, the dynamics are quite different to a summer event.  People tend to stay in and around the main rooms of the venue more, and go outside less.  Whilst this presents different challenges to me as a documentary photographer – it also introduces unique, and often intimate moments that are quite often few and far between at summer weddings.

Emma and Richard’s wedding was a genuinely lovely event, and I could tell all their friends and family were having a blast when I left shortly after the first dance.  Guests can view and purchase prints by going to my client area.

Once all the weddings for 2010 are blogged, I will put all the testimonials online, however, this is what Emma sent me once she saw her wedding photographs:

“Many thanks for your email. I was away when this dropped into my inbox but it was a very nice Christmas present to come home to! We love the photos, they are everything we wanted – they capture all the little details of the flowers, cake, etc that no-one else thought to photograph and some really emotional moments. I love that you caught the whole quiz finale – which really made me laugh at the time and I didn’t even see you in the room! (You said we wouldn’t notice your presence but I didn’t really believe you.)”

As usual, here are a selection of my favourites from the day.   Having a young daughter myself, the third from last image really made me smile.  These days, the bands and DJ’s tend to have these tiny green spotlights that dart around the room.  It’s great for dancing, but isn’t particularly great for us photographers.  However, I spotted the little bridesmaid in a world of her own “floating” with the darting dots.
