Ah…an Abbey House Gardens Wedding: I can see The Abbey House Gardens from my back garden. Famed as the home of the Naked Gardeners, it’s also a wonderful tourist attraction for my lovely home town of Malmesbury.
When Nicky and Pete first approached me to shoot their Abbey House Gardens Wedding I was really thrilled as it had been quite a while since I’d shot a wedding there.
Fast forward to that day in June and I spent some time with Nicky and her bridal attendants who were all extremely excited I might add before heading down to meet Peter, his grooms men and other guests in the ceremony room.
Pete looked nervous, but relaxed and I could tell he was struggling to keep his emotions in check.
Before long, that deathly hush descends on the room as the registrar announces:
“Please stand for the entrance of the bride”
As Nicky and her dad entered, I could sense the emotion. And I mean that. I’ve photographed around 300 weddings and I can spot an emotional moment at fifty paces.
That wasn’t it though; there were many many more emotional moments throughout the ceremony and the reception.
The speeches …. lots of tears too.
It was so lovely to see. I’m very privileged to be an observer of these occasions and whist I didn’t know Nicky or Pete before being commissioned to photograph their wedding here in Malmesbury, I felt like I had a very definite understanding of their love and emotional connection with each other by the end of that lovely day in June.
As the evening sun started to flood into the Abbey, I took my leave.
When I got home, and had put the children to bed, I sat in my back garden with a cold beer and listened to the sounds of their party waft over the gardens towards me.
A lovely day, a gorgeous couple.
Later this week I’m going to post the extended highlights photofilm of Nicky and Pete’s Abbey House Garden’s wedding so please check back for that.
Thank you so so much for these beautiful memories. The day went by so quickly so to relive the day through your storytelling has been really moving. It was such a happy day and the photos really reflect the happiness we felt as a couple and family as a whole.
Once again, thank you for capturing our day so perfectly.”
