Shanneen and Russell approached me to be their Abbey House Gardens Malmesbury Wedding Photographer way back in 2009. Shanneen had a big wedding to plan and spectacular it was too. When Shanneen told me she was getting married at The Abbey House Gardens I became a very happy little wedding photographer. The Abbey House gardens are in my home town, here in Malmesbury, and is a place I have visited many times myself. Its the home of the very famous “Naked Gardeners” – Ian and Barbara Pollard and is a huge tourist attraction in Malmesbury.
At that point I had never photographed a wedding at the gardens and looked forward to the wedding immensely over the two years that followed. Of course, when the wedding came I was not disappointed. It was just wonderful in every aspect; Ian, Barbara and Donna their very able wedding planner had worked with Shanneen to create a perfect wedding. They got married in The Belvedere in the Abbey House and that followed with a lovely garden party complete with birds of prey, stunning gardens and a lovely view of the Abbey itself.
Later, Shanneen, Russell and their guests had a wonderful wedding breakfast, complete of course, with the traditional speeches both emotional and funny in equal measures. Whilst the wedding was unfolding I couldn’t help but be attracted to some of the beautiful garden ornaments and features – these were and integral part of the wedding and as such it made sense for me to include some of those in my favourites shared below.
As always at weddings I keep my eyes on the little ones too. I love eye contact between subjects in my images – I genuinely believe and simply movement of the eyes to lock onto someone else can make an image. In the instance of small children, I prefer to see them engage with me as the observer. I love the expressions on babies and children’s faces and I capture as many moments of them as I can.
As usual, a few of my favourite images from the Abbey House Gardens Malmesbury wedding. If you are considering getting married at this great venue, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your wedding photography requirements.
