Weddings at Manor House Hotel
Weddings at Manor House Hotel, Castle Combe here in Wiltshire are always ones I look forward to photographing for a couple of reasons. It’s local for a start, but mostly because its a wonderful wonderful old wedding venue surrounded by stunning gardens and greenery in one of the most idyllic little villages in Wiltshire. What more could you want for your wedding? I have more Weddings at Manor House Hotel schedule for later this year and 2013 and I’m very much looking forward to those too. However, onto the story of Emily and Will……
Emily and Will came to meet me in my studio last year and, with a bizarre twist, it turned out that Will and I went to the same school back in South Wales. In fact, Will’s brother who was one of the ushers was in the same year as me and we also went to the same church. Small world hey! Both Emily and Will work in TV and after meeting them I was pretty excited by the prospect of being their wedding photographer and I wasn’t let down by a wedding that was both intimate, friendly and wildly fun too for the guests.
The day started with some bridal preparation photography of Emily and her gorgeous little bridesmaids – who added a lot of character throughout the day (in fact, I think the one of the shots toward the end of this selection with the girls on the dance floor is one of my favourites of the year).
Weddings at Manor House Hotel are great for us photographers – the bridal rooms are big and airy and there is always something going on. I shot for a while with Emily before heading out ready for the ceremony which was in the church next door.
Luckily the weather held on for us and Emily and her dad were able to walk the short distance to the church where they were met by the bubbly bridesmaids once again. The ceremony was lovely of course, but often my favourite part of the wedding day to photograph is immediate after-moments of the ceremony.
When the bride and groom leave the church and the guests spill out and unite in giving them congratulations, hugs, kisses and excited looks and laughter. Sometimes I get a little frustrated that people seem to spend more time fiddling with their iPhones than enjoying this moment but I guess that’s the world we live in these days.
Back at the Manor House Hotel, there was a champagne reception before the guests made there way into the wedding room for breakfast. There was plenty more fun to come with some raucous speeches and very infectious laughter throughout…..then the dancing!
As usual, here is a selection of my favourites from the wedding. As mentioned Weddings at Manor House Hotel enable me to really stretch my muscles throughout the day so there is a large selection of images here. I really hope you like them and please feel free to comment, or share on social media using the buttons.

Great stuff – you’ve cut right through the crap and captured a real sense of intimacy. I love how you get close to the action and I completely get what you say about shooting regularly at a local venue – especially one that’s as stunning as the Manor… You really can ‘let go’ in a different way. Thanks
