Botleys Mansion Wedding
A Botleys Mansion Wedding: What a wonderful wedding venue this is. Back in November 2011 I photographed the wedding of Emma and Darren at Botleys Mansion and I couldn’t have been more thrilled when they asked me to be their wedding photographer.
When they told me they were getting married at Botleys I was very excited. Its a Bijou Weddings venue, which means its rare for a non Bijou Wedding photographer to get the opportunity to photograph there. As it was my first time, I arrived in plenty of time and pretty much marveled at the lovely 18th Century Palladian Mansion as I made my way up the drive way.
Emma was having her bridal makeup and final pre-wedding preparation in the bridal suite. It was a serene scene up there with the bubbly and the excitement building slowly before Emma got into what I can only describe as one of the more gorgeous wedding dresses I have seen in a long time. Of course, she looked absolutely wonderful walking down the aisle to the by-now-nervous-looking groom Darren.
The ceremony went off without a hitch and the guests mingled before heading into the Banqueting room for their wedding breakfast. Of course, before the breakfast could start Darren and Emma had to walk down that incredible red carpet that no Botleys Mansion Wedding would be complete without.
An adorable set of speeches, with lots of laughter and emotion of course. Some raucousness from the guests as they enjoyed themselves too and it was nice to catch up with Jo and Jason who’s wedding I photographed just a couple of weeks back.
Below, as usual, are a few of my favourite images from the wedding. The images presented are all black and white. When I saw the dance floor at Botleys Mansion I had an idea of the type of shot I wanted to get and the final shot in this selection is exactly what I had in mind. As always, I’m a pure reportage wedding photographer, so none of these images are staged or posed in any way.

Hi Kevin, as you know, this is a venue I know pretty well too, and bravo for some simply amazing captures. Love the dancefloor one in particular, the space an dynamic nature of this shot is superb. Neale
Great pics, great post production as always, am off there in a week or two, really looking forward
lovely images as usual Kevin, That last shot is awesome.
Awesome stuff as always my fellow Welshie! Love them all, you have some super tones going on there, plus it’s just so nice to see proper good wedding photography without all the posed stuff, just my thing!
Incredible images. How do you capture so much emotion in every image? The dance floor shot is just stunning.
Ditto the above- The dance floor shot is gorgeous. I love the image of the couple holding hands under the table too.
Love them all but that last one is stunning!
Stunning set of photos Kevin – loving the dance floor shot!
Really digging the low angles you’re looking for, especially the reflections. The captured emotions during the toasts are excellent.
Wow, some great images here Kevin! Love the negative space on the 1st one! The guests taking photos after the signing of the register is brill, and the last photo of the dance is superb!!
Yeah, Botleys Mansion is truly an amazing venue, I did a wedding there last year and looking forward to the next wedding later this year.. It’s one of the really rare venues where everything seems to close to perfection.. You’ve done some great some great shots there Kevin!
Great colouring to your images…love the use of the reflective floor on the dance shot
Stunning documentary work Kevin, so much emotion and expression and that first dance shot is genius!

Awesome work.

Superb photos and a great couple: some really emotive pictures. But the heart-stopper is that spectacular first dance photograph – absolutely spectacular.
As Darren’s parents we are absolutely thrilled with all the photographs which indeed captured what was truly a wonderful and memorable day. We are, of course, biased as the subject matter was stunning to start with! We are having trouble deciding which of these amazing photographs to chose. Thank you Kevin for capturing the day perfectly.
A pleasing set of thematically cohesive images demonstrating your superb craft with camera and computer. The last shot of the first dance is really is an incredible synergy of observation and skill of documentary wedding photography.
Stunning photos, I am curious as to which camera and lens you used for the above photos.
