As a wedding photographer I get to go to some pretty amazing places.
I’ve shot weddings in The United States, France, Scotland, Ireland and this amazing Villa Amorosa di Fumone Wedding of Lewis and Lavinia back in summer of 2013.
I’ve return on many occasions to this wedding because it was, genuinely, a gorgeous wedding from the moment I started bridal prep to the fireworks later in the evening.
As you probably know, I’m a “moment junkie” and when I’m photographing weddings I’m looking exclusively for interesting pictures, with context, emotion, humour and love.
I’m drawn to this photograph below of Lavinia and her father as they embraced on the dance floor shortly after the first dance because it really embodies a sense of family love (for me, at least).
It’s often these moments in between moments where the best wedding photojournalistic moments occur. Those secret, sometimes rushed embraces, that happen when everyone else thinks the main event is over, is usually where I have my eye open the most looking for these moments.
As a wedding photojournalist, there is no down-time really. The best moments often occur at the most unexpected moments and I really love taking pictures that will be treasured for generations to come.
I really love this picture.
