Weddings can be hugely emotional and even though British Weddings usually follow a pattern of sorts, often the dynamics of what occurs is very different at each wedding.
I really thrive on the moments immediately after the ceremony, when the bride and groom, newly wed are greeted by their friends and families. This is the point where interaction between them crackles and I love keeping an eye out for what I silently call “The Huge Hug”.
You can usually see it coming. Photographers who have attended any of my wedding photojournalism workshops will know that I talk about anticipation a lot and anticipation is always key for “The Huge Hug”.
Quite often there is a bustle, and a figure emerges from the crowd to give the bride (or groom) a mother of all hugs. I love it. I love photographing these moments and any layers of story that unfold in the background are added bonuses.
