Reportage Photography Kingscote Barn and Brokenborough Church

As a Gloucestershire Wedding Photographer I am spending a lot of time at some great venues in this lovely county and throughout the Cotswolds.  Last year, Rebecca and Alastair chose me as their documentary wedding photographer for their big day, to be held at St. John The Baptist church in Brokenborough and later at The Kingscote Barn.

This blog post is one of the largest I have done in terms of image count – there were so many moments in the day that made me smile.  Rebecca was beautifully dressed in her Audrey Hepburn esq dress and you could simply see the adoration between Alastair and Rebecca.  The moment before Rebecca walked down the aisle with her proud dad, I though Alastair was going to burst.  I think you can get a sense of how happy they are right the way through the body of photographs, but especially during the church service.

I spent some time at Rebecca’s parents house where I managed to get some candid portraits and the light was just perfect for some of my favourite type of silhouette photographs.  Remember I don’t direct any part of the day so all of these photographs are true moments in time that occurred on their wedding day.

The church at Brokenborough is a delightful little place, in the perfect Gloucestershire village.  The guests spent a few minutes at The Horse Guards Pub, Brokenborough before the quick walk down to Brokenborough church.  The vicar was generous in his attitude towards me as the photographer and so I was able to get into a lovely position to the left of the altar.

There is one photo in this sequence, which is of Rebecca and Alastair in the car ready to leave the church that has become one of my favourite images of the year.  It is special too for Rebecca as it is the grandmother who is waving in the reflection.  You can also see Rebecca’s dad, the bridesmaids and some of the grooms men in the reflection.  You can read a little bit more about my thoughts on this image in my recent article about reportage wedding photography if you so wish.

Of course, Kingscote Barn was its usual resplendent self.  There was laughter, tears, dancing and generally great fun had by all.
