Sports Photography
Those that know me, will know that I am a huge rugby fan (being from Wales and all that). As an ex-player myself, I’ve been waiting for an opportunity and a break in my wedding shoots to shoot some rugby. This weekend, Newport RFC granted me a press accreditation to go pitchside and photograph their Principality Premiership game against local rivals Cross Keys.
I loved every minute of it, and will be looking to do more sports photography, especially when the new studio opens throughout the year.
These are some of the favourites from the match, which Newport won 24-10. They have been edited in the style I like. I love my images to resemble those of the old film cameras, and as such nearly all of my images are edited to resemble this look. To me, it gives an image depth and character, that a simple un-edited digital image does not achieve.
For the photographers out there. Every shot was exposed using a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV with a EF 70-200 2.8 IS L (Mark I) Lens.
I’m hooked

Got some great shots here Kevin, Like number 2, black and white works well.
Motor sport next?
Hey Kevin,
Lovely photos you got here!
this is why you have to be concentrated all the way during any sporting activity – think nothing else but about what you have infront of your lens!
I absolutely love them – in particular where the action really matters
Beautiful pics Kev! Big well done mate!
The BW’s give rugby a more dramatic feel in photography. They are absolutely stupendous.
Keep it up Kev and again should you ever visit Malta gimme a shout ok?
Cheers and keep in touch
Dom
really enjoyed looking at your rugby shots this evening, very refreshing to see your treatment. Top work ( from someone who also watched his early rugby at Rodney Parade and was possibly at that All Black game sat on the same touchline!
