Traditional Child Portrait : Rosa
Rosa is three years old now. I can’t quite believe it. Of course, we have Albie too now so the family is growing.
I’m so proud of Gemma my wife. She is a rock to me, and also the best mother anyone could wish for to our two smashing children.
I’m just waiting for a batch of wedding photos to finish and was looking through some of my older snapshots of Rosa. I found this one which I think was taken when we were at Centre Parcs earlier in the year.
It’s a completely candid photograph of Rosa. Although she is clearly aware of me taking the photograph, as with my reportage wedding photography, it’s a non-posed and non-directed photograph. I love pure candid portraits of children like this. The lighting is almost perfect for the image, and she was in doing the thing that I find most endearing of her – sucking her thumb. She is the sweetest little girl (with a bit of a temper on her mind!) and I am constantly capturing photographs of her as she changes throughout the years.
Now that Albie, our new son, is on the scene, I’ve started using the Fuji X100 as my main family camera. This image, though, was shot on a Canon EOS 50D using a Sigma 50mm F/1.4 lens.
Isn’t she beautiful?
