Bristol v London Welsh Rugby Photos
Tonight I photographed Bristol v London Welsh in the top-of-the-table Championship clash at The Memorial Ground…. and what a fantastic game.
Being a proud Welshman myself, I was still reeling from the Wales v Australia World Cup game earlier in the day. However, I dusted myself down, packed my bruised pride in my camera bag and headed across to photograph this spectacle.
I’ve been to many rugby games in my time. I class the game I witnessed tonight as one of the best I have ever been privileged to watch. It was just stunning rugby from both sides. London Welsh, who of course, have a place in my heart being the team I played for myself in the past had the run of the first half with Bristol piping them to the win in the 85th minute.
For the photographers out there. Every single one of these images was exposed at 12,800 ISO using a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV.
Once again I must thank Tom at Bristol for allowing me pitch side access and here are a selection of my favourites from the game. As always, edited with my own personal style. I’ve concentrated on the Bristol action in this set and may publish more images of the game at a later date if I get chance.
The final score was Bristol Rugby 35 London Welsh 33. Heartbreak for London Welsh – and I genuinely felt for them and their supporters, but, ultimately I think the better team did win….. and hopefully they can propell from here back into the Premiership where Bristol, in my opinion, belong.

Fantastic documentary images Kevin, looked like a good game too!
Some really great shots here, Kevin.. A few years would be impossible.. I remember shooting with Canon 1Ds MkII – the highest usable ISO level was some 800 or 1000 max..
