The Great Barn, Higher Ashton in Devon is a venue I’ve visited a couple of times now. On this particular day, for Emma and Nathan’s wedding the heavens opened, which unfortunately meant they and their guests were unable to utilise the absolutely gorgeous gardens that adorn the barn.
That said, there was no dampening of the spirit of the day and as soon as the guests started arriving at The Great Barn I could tell it was going to be a fun filled day.
The Great Barn has the most amazing spot lighting system in the main wedding room and it was heart stopping to watch Emma and her Grandfather walk down the aisle. I’ve watched hundreds of brides walk down the aisle and I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve seen anyone prouder than Emma’s Grandfather during those few precious moments.
After the ceremony, the guests congregated in the marque that had been set up in case of inclement weather where the canapés, champagne and speech from Nathan were conducted.
Later, the staff at The Great Barn turned the venue into a gorgeous dining area for the wedding breakfast where the rest of the evening entertainment commenced.
“Nathan and I loved the photos and our family & friends did too! We couldn’t have imagined them any better and they really capture some of the truly memorable moments. My favourite is the one of Nathan and myself doing our vows with my grandad in the background – it’s my favourite picture of him and you can really see the emotion and happiness of the day in his eyes. He’s not a huge smiler but his eyes tell it all :). – Emma”
