My first April wedding of 2011 saw me head over to Cambridge for Chrissie and Duncan’s beautiful musically orientated wedding at St. Mary & St. Michael’s Chruch, Trumpington followed by a reception at nearby Anstey Hall.

Chrissie & Duncan, their friends and family made me feel very welcome for my first trip to Cambridge as a wedding photographer.  Their wedding was a joy to document and with so many musicians involved there was plenty going on all day long.  The speeches, in the library, whilst challenging to photograph produced some wonderful moments and there were many tears and laughs along the way.

Instead of a first dance, Duncan picked up his guitar and sang a beautiful unaccompanied serenade to his new wife.  What an incredible and talented guy!

As usual, here are a selection of my favourite wedding photos from the day.  Please do feel free to leave a comment.

  1. Stunning images mate – love the black and white, and the first of the colour images (4th shot) is amazing!!

    Rich

  2. I love the emotion you’ve captured during the speeches, beautiful work

  3. Lovely work Kev – so many great frames, loved the crowd hanging on every word with the speeches. Musciain certainly seems to be earning his money – great captures!

Some great moments as ever Kevin, the lady in front of the car taking a picture is an instant classic.

Curious about one of the guitar shots (second from bottom) – have you got some off camera flash going on there?

Thanks Matt. Definitely no OCF (I wouldn’t know how). The song was at 5:30pm and I believe that light is simply sunlight streaming through the window.

  5. Beautiful and inspirational as usual!

  6. Beautifully controlled contra-jour exposures, well done!

  7. Sublime story telling. The signing of the register image is unexpectedly wonderful and the car shot similarly so! But if that speeches shot (you know the one) doesn’t win some kind of prize/isn’t featured in a future book of inspiration wedding photographs, then the world is wrong.

  8. Brilliant images Kevin.

  9. AWESOME – love the expressions in the speeches in particular. Looking at these photos makes me feel like I was there! XXX

When you take some photos with a black and white color, it makes the images more thrilling and eye catching.. Love it!

  11. A wedding local to me! Clearly one with plenty of emotion but in difficult circumstances for you too. The way that you have worked with the harsh light and later the restricted space really is a lesson to us other photographers. Bravo!

Your processing has so much punch too…

    All splendid stuff Kevin.

    Neal.
