I was delighted to learn last night that two of my images had been placed in the prestigious AG|WPJA Quaterly Awards.
From the AGWPJA:
The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association AG|WPJA is comprised of outstanding wedding photographers, who are at the forefront of the wedding photography industry when it comes to enhancing images.
The AG|WPJA establishes and upholds high standards that are taken into consideration during the judging process for our wedding photography contests. Using all artistic tools at their disposal, members skillfully enliven their work in post production processing.
The first image that was placed 8th in the “Kids being Kids” category was this lovely photograph taken at Poppy & Rasim’s wedding:
Judges Comment: Just a really cool moment between two small children. The subtle toning brings out the different colors in the image. The expressive eyes of the girl add to the photo.
The second image was placed 20th in the “Preparation” category and is taken from a series of preparation photos of Kajal:
Judges Comment: This is very colorful picture but not only because of the clothing and jewelry. The bride’s face radiates happiness. She is glowing and her mood is captured.
The Judges for the awards were Bruce & Suzette Moyer:
Bruce Moyer is the Deputy Director of Photography at the St. Petersburg Times in St. Petersburg, FL. He came to the Times in 2006 from the Hartford Courant, where he had been a picture editor for 8 years. He also was named “Newspaper picture editor of the Year” for three consecutive years in the NPPA’s contest. Prior to the Courant, Moyer was visual team leader at The Sun in Bremerton, Washington, and a staff photographer at the Naples (FL) Daily News. He graduated from the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1982.
