AG|WPJA Quarter 1 2011 Awards
Yesterday I had a day off between a run of four weddings in six days and I was really pleased to receive an email from the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association with the Quarter 1 2011 results. An image I have become very fond of, and seems to be doing very well for me, was placed second overall in the Reception category. Ever since I posted this image I have been asked by many people how I “set it up”.
Well, the answer is that it wasn’t set up at all (I don’t do that – ever!). The single light point above Ali and Tim is a disco light, not one of my lights – the room was very dark so I knew if I placed myself between the guests and Ali and Tim I would get a semi-silhuetted image. The image was shot without flash – the front lighting coming from the candles and subtle light that was behind me at the time.
The image, you may well have seen before, is this one:

It was a bumper quarter for me as I also received a 19th place in the Ceremony category for one of my “cheeky” shots:

That will be it for awards for a few months I promise….
